Tomorrow is Independence Day, the day we celebrate the most important event in the history of the United States. On this day, in 1,776 the colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. I recommend every person, but especially every American read this document from time to time. Think about what the settlers had to complain about and compare that to what we all complain about today.
I have had the great privilege of enjoying a meal and bottle of wine on a number of occasions at a club in London knows as Brooks's'. The club was formed in 1,762 by 2 gentlemen Messrs. Boothby and James in response to being blackballed from the membership of Whites' another prominent club in London. Its membership includes prominent business people, royalty (including the House of Windsor) and politicians. I am told by members of the club that it was the place where the American Revolution was first planned.
Independence Day is not just important to the people of the US, it is important to people all over the planet. Countries all over the world have their own independence day. We in the US are so US-centric, we simply do not pay attention to people all over the world who have struggled for their right to self-governance. Wikipedia has a long list of countries that have gained their freedom from an outside government.
All that said, the markets will close early today and we thought this would a good time to adjust a few of the suggested trades we have on the books.
