There is a massive cold spell running over the United States at the moment. These events hit the Midwest every year and usually hit the East coast during the winter months. When this one started about a week ago it looked like it was going to be a temporary phenomenon. Forecasts are now telling us that as this event wears off another one is just behind it. Whereas the current cold snap is simply very cold, far below normal condition, this next one is more likely to bring heavy snow to the east coast. With the cold rolling from one event to another, it looks like this one could go on for a month and possibly the remainder of the winter.
