The good people of Turkey are having a rough time of it. A dictator ruse their government. Like all good dictators, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has centralized power into his own hands. This phenomenon is a prescription for disaster for the economy and human rights. There has never been a time when central economic planning has worked over the intermediate-term, much less the long term. We expect history to repeat as it always does.
