On Friday, Mike took a closer look at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the silicon chip manufacturer. The company competes in a number of very tough neighborhoods. They compete with Intel in the microprocessor space. They also compete with NVIDIA in the graphics chip space. In both areas, they design and manufacture the primary chip and associated chipset that integrates their technology into the mother and daughter boards that drive both desktop and laptop PCs.
The company has some technology innovations they make their chips very competitive with competing for products on a cost/performance basis. As a result, the company's share price has been a ginormous winner over the past few years.
