eBay, Inc. (EBAY) operates e-commerce platforms that connect buyers and sellers worldwide. Many of us have used their service at one time or another to buy from a tradition “brick & mortar” retailer or an individual selling a collectible or used item. Some of us may have indeed been this seller. eBay was a stock that was in the news every day during the DotCom craze of the 1990s. Fast-forward to today and it seems eBay is a company the investment community treats as a sleepy veteran of a bygone DotCom era. Contrarian and value investors like investments that are ignored or disliked by the pundits and the investment community at large and this put eBay on our radar screen.
