Standard Monthly Options expire at the end of the week. The equity markets continue to act strangely. Some popular averages like the S&P500 and the DJIA are characterized by whipsaws with little progress to show year to date. On the other hand, the NASDAQ 100 (large-cap tech growth stocks) and the Russell 200 (small-cap stocks) made new all-time highs after selling off in February. Who could have predicted that these two desperately different sectors of the equity market could perform so well when the S&P500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average disappoint.
